Spring

Spring

“From the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.” - Psalm 61:2-3

Spring is a beautiful time of year. It’s also reliable. No matter how cold the winter, regardless of how deep the frost goes, despite how short the days, and even with mountains of snow, spring will come. The days will get longer, the temperatures will rise, the ground will thaw, and new plants will grow. The severity of the winter cannot stop the spring with all it’s beauty. The world will slough off its blanket of snow, and everything will look different.

David recognizes this about God. He calls to God when things are dire. The reason he asks God to lead him to the rock that is higher than he, is that God had been a refuge and a strong tower. He knows that God will be there for him because God has always been there for those who humble themselves before Him.

The same is true for us. The winter does not last forever. Spring always follows the cold and dark. So too, God will always be there to be our rock, our refuge, and our tower against the enemy. Call on Him from the ends of the earth, and watch how everything changes.
